CORE -Clinical Orthopedic Exam App Reviews

Waste of money

Ive never spent this much money on an app before, but after reading the great reviews decided to go for it. All of the maneuvers are on You Tube. So just search for CRTechnologies and save yourself $40. As a primary care provider, I personally think there are way too many maneuvers to sort through. There are so many tests to sort through without much direction to quickly decide which are best for your patient. If there were some sort of algorithm for quickly figuring out which special tests to perform if a patient has say neck pain radiating down the arm with numbness, that would be more relevant to me. If you are an orthopedic specialist and have extra cash to spend for a slightly more organized version of what you can find for free on You Tube, then go for it. Otherwise, save your money.

Excellent Clinical Resource

Excellent clinical tool for discerning appropriate tests and measures in the clinic or reviewing outside. There is good structural organization by body region and clinical categories. Comprehensive explanations are provided via text and high quality demonstrative videos are linked. Supportive literature is provided for each test when available and evidence based tutorials and keys are provided for the novice EBP clinician. The number of tests can be a bit overwhelming, however, with minimal effort at looking at the available properties it is easy to select the most valuable procedures. There is an easy favorite tag feature to short-cup to commonly used tests or ones of special interest. Excellent resource for any clinician working with musculoskeletal complaints at all levels. A great application that is now even better

This app has been around a year now and continues to get better and better. The new iPad version provides an easy to use interface and the video quality looks great on the full screen. More tests continue to get added to this already comprehensive compendium. This app remains one of my most frequently used on my phone for clinical practice as well as teaching. Ill likely utilize this even more now that the iPad version is There is simply nothing else like this out there and CORE continues to set the standard for evidence-based orthopaedic apps. Ben Hando

Great resource

Most who download this will already have their usual exam tests down. This gives a variety of tests with video and evidence (when available) to help me find a new test to integrate into my exam or use when a diagnosis is unclear. Organized, convenient and efficient!

Easy to use reference for clinicians

Most clinicians will already have their go to tests down, but this app has all of those and then some. This is a wonderful application for new clinicians to review the tests on the go as well as for students studying for the boards. This application gives the situations for when to best use the tests as well as evidence behind the tests. There are even videos to look at to review. Great app!

Anatomy anyone?

I was a licensed PT for 2 years and I am currently a medical student. I bought this app today because of a patient presenting with vague new onset ankle sxs without instability. Thinking of the posterior tibialis tendon I looked it up on CORE which had a special test for the PTT. The purpose section states that the PTT runs posteriorally to the lateral malleolous... As my first encounter with this app yielded false information regarding ANATOMY, I am pursuing a full refund ASAP. I am not saying there is no value to the information provided in this app, but I cannot trust an app that cannot get the fundamentals correct and I dont think any clinician should. Besides all "clinically relevant technology" videos are on you tube.

At the moment, Id say a little overpriced

3 stars because the videos dont stay downloaded on my iPad. Ive redownloaded them multiple times sometimes they stay and sometimes they show up as needing to be downloaded again. Also, it would be great if it had some common treatment techniques for common pathologies (such as hip MWM for hip OA patients) Will give 4 stars when my videos stay downloaded. 5 stars if they begin to add some treatment approaches!

Problem

I have a big problem, every time i update my app, my videos will be deleted, and i have to download them again and again this time after last version i cant download anything Dr. Saghandian

The App is completely empty...

Bought this app today for $40. I have used it before through another clinician and I loved the app; however, I am extremely disappointed right now. The entire app in empty. There is absolutely no content within the app, and despite removing and reinstalling the app, there is still no content. Please fix ASAP.

Good, but incomplete

This applications features are really, really nice. Everything it claims to do, it does well, and quickly. Unfortunately, it is missing a lot exams, and is therefore limited in its usefulness. Suggestion: take an orthopedic examination reference text (like Evans, for instance) and fill out the application with these examinations, using the literature reviews referenced within the text or texts. The application could then easily be updated as newer research is published or otherwise made available. At this point, I wouldnt say the app is worth the $40 purchase price simply due the issue outlined above. $5.99 is reasonable for the video download, however. Heres to hoping the app gets a significant content upgrade. Again, the interface is very good, no need to change that too much.

Bad deal

Got this app on ipad, works great, iphone 5,complet opposite, cant open videos i bought can t rotate the screen, all videos just disapear from menu every time i turn it on so i have to download them again and again. Cant watch videos without wifi, even after paying extra money for that.

Good app

The only thing I did not like with this app is when updating, it loses all the video and you have to redownload. The update also made the video soundless. Other than that, a must have app. For ortho cases.

Do not recommend

I purchased the CORE app 2 weeks ago. Had a problem with the mobile website, contacted the developer of the app, and received with timely response. Like the links to videos for each of the tests.

I thought this was terribly overpriced. I’m pretty frustrated I spent so much on an app that I have found little to no benefit out of. It seems every time I wanted to use it it needed to update the database and would just spin the apple wheel until I lost patience and switched it off. The app is a good idea its just not worth the price. $3 - $5 range would be more appropriate.
